Hunter was set up in 1985 in Szczytno, Poland by Drak (vocals) and Brooz (drums). After first period inspired strongly by thrash metal (in it's early period the band was tagged as ‘Polish Metallica') Hunter developed it's own sound and please very unique music recognized as soul metal. The name of the group comes from the title of the song "Die Hard The Hunter" by Def Leppard. The band played many gigs in late 80's, early 90's and were widely recognized even before having an album released. "Requiem" hit the stores in 1995 and received very positive reviews which helped the band to widen the audience and was followed by invitation to play Woodstock Festival for almost 100000 people. In 1999 previous bass player was replaced by Saimon (ex-Vader). In 2001 Hunter, recognized already as amazing live band decided to release "Live" album with full concert, videoclips and news song "Kiedy Umieram" which later became the biggest hit in bands discography. "Kiedy Umieram" was given amazing reception, and showed new direction in bands career – compositions were slower, heavier, with more keyboards parts as well as violin sounds by incredible violinist Jelonek. This song was included also on third album "Medeis" released in 2003. Next release was "T.E.L.I." in two language versions (Polish and English) and the band reached the audience in Europe as well. Another live album (this time CD+DVD) entitled "HolyWood" was out in 2007. In 2008 Brooz left the band and was replaced by Daray (Dimmu Borgir, Vesania, ex-Vader). 11 news songs was prepared and recorded with this musician and in 2009 lat album "Hellwood" saw the light of day.
Since 2004 Hunter organized festival "Hunterfest". It takes place in Szczytno on the towns beach every August. There are both polish and foreign bands, such as Motorhead, Fear Factory, Sepultura or Napalm Death appearing on Hunterfest.
